The Knox Breastfriends Group is a support group for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in the meeting room of the Burlington Branch Library, located at 4512 Asheville Highway, Knoxville.
Frequently, speakers join the group to discuss breastfeeding friendly topics such as infant massage, attachment parenting, and developmental milestones for babies. The group is very similar to a playgroup in that we sit on blankets on the floor and there are plenty of toys for the babies to explore while their mother's chat. Healthy snacks and drinks are available during the group!
Kristin Williams, breastfeeding peer counselor for KCHD's WIC program, coordinates the Knox Breastfriends Group. She can be reached at 556-9370 or kristin.williams@knoxcounty.org
